1. What is the difference between BITZER Standard and BITZER ECOLINE compressors?

The new BITZER ECOLINE compressors are R134a optimized compressors based on the proven and reliable standard BITZER compressors. The efficiency improvements have mainly been achieved by the use of high efficiency motors and optimized valve plate design, which have been adapted to the differing mass flow of R134a. Additional energy savings are realized thanks to enlarged application limits which allow operation at lowered condensing temperatures.

2. What are typical applications of the new BITZER ECOLINE compressors?

The new ECOLINE series has been designed to fit the requirements of medium temperature (MT) supermarket applications but is suited well in any other R134a application which takes advantage of the efficiency improvements.

3. Can BITZER ECOLINE compressors also be used for other refrigerants?

 With regard to superior efficiency they are especially tailored and tested for R134a. An operation with other refrigerants isn't intended.

4. What is the range of the new BITZER ECOLINE compressor series?

The new BITZER ECOLINE compressor series comprises of 12 capacity steps with displacements between 35 and 152 m3 / h at 50 Hz.

5. Will there be a big and a small motor for each model?

Similar to the BITZER standard compressors there will be two motor sizes available. The small motor 2 has been optimized for MT applications which were the main objective of this development. The big motor 1 is applicable for higher pressure ratios.

6. What about availability and pricing?

The series production of the BITZER ECOLINE compressors has started in October 2009. As BITZER is convinced that the change from R404A to R134a is one way to reduce the carbon footprint we can assure an attractive price/ performance ratio.

7. Does the BITZER ECOLINE compressor have the same mounting positions as the Standard series?

The fixing points of all compressor are unchanged and the connection diameters of the shut-off valves are the same. The connection position of the discharge line has changed for the models 6JE, 6HE and 6GE due to enlarged cross sections of the discharge valves.

8. Is the BITZER Standard compressor interchangeable with the new BITZER ECOLINE compressor within R134a application?

The ECOLINE compressors can replace their related standard compressors in most cases, for example the ECOLINE 4GE-20Y can be used instead of the 4G-20.2Y standard compressor.

9. Where can I find the BITZER ECOLINE performance data, application limits and literature?

10. Are the BITZER ECOLINE compressors suitable for variable speed drive?

The BITZER ECOLINE compressors1) are especially adapted to allow frequency inverter operation up to 70 Hz with standard motor. Information about selection current for frequency inverter operation can be found within the brochure KP-103. For detailed system design and inverter selection please consult BITZER.

11. The name plates of the new BITZER ECOLINE compressors are different to the one of the standard series, can you explain?

First line:        Data for fixed frequency mains supply

Second line1) :    Data for frequency inverter selection for operation up to 70 Hz

12. Why is the motor size rating of motor 2 so high?

In order to provide best possible electric efficiencies a higher size-to-load ratio of the motor results in a lower operating current. This "larger" motor allows already with the standard motor an inverter operation up to 70Hz within its complete application limits.  

13. What are the real amps I have to consider for contactor and cable dimensioning?

For the selection of contactors, cables and fuses the max. operating current/ max. power consumption must be considered. You can find the related information within our brochure KP-103.
